Ruby is the official July birthstone and a stunning gemstone at that! Perhaps you may not know it, but for many years, the ruby has been one of the world's most expensive gems...and one of the most sought after.
I personally have a love of the deep red hues mixed with pink/purple tones depending on the variety. Of course, some of the world's best sources for ruby are: Burma, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Kenya and of course, the United States! As I hail from North Carolina, I'm proud to say that beautiful rubies come from right here in my home state!
Many folks especially like the fact that a ruby is one of the hardest of gemstones and fine ruby powder (corundum) is used for making abrasives, ex: sandpaper, drillbits, etc.
Recently, I took some beautifully colored rubies that I'd been saving for a long time and made some special rings, pendants and earrings from them. You see, creating jewelry with gorgeous gemstones has always been a passion of mine.
I invite you to stop by today and indulge your passion for the July birthstone...fire your life with the gorgeous red ruby!
